XBRL Germany releases new version of GAAP taxonomy

14 Nov 2006

XBRL Germany has released version 2.0 of its XBRL taxonomy covering German national GAAP for public review.

The taxonomy consists of two modules: a GCD module covering standard entity and other information and the GAAP-CI module which covers typical reporting by commercial and industrial companies.  The taxonomy, which complies with the latest 2.1 version of the XBRL Specification, is an update of the first version issued in 2002.  Main amendments and enhancements are:

·                 Changes to reflect the evolution of XBRL rules and best practices

·                 Basic modularisation instead of an “all in one” approach

·                 Addition of a new section to cover information needed for tax filing.

·                 A range of alterations and additions to reflect changes in the legal and business environment

While international accounting standards are playing increasingly important roles in the German financial reporting, German national GAAP is still the basis for tax returns and reporting to the electronic German public register (“eBundesanzeiger”), which will accept XBRL reports from January 2007.
