XBRL Spain and the University of Bucaramanga set up repository for XBRL project information

XBRL Spain and the University of Bucaramanga (Colombia) have set up a repository for information on XBRL projects around the world and called on project managers to contribute data on developments.

The repository will be a valuable source of information for those who are tracking XBRL progress, considering setting up projects or involved in implementations.  The establishment of the repository reflects the rapid expansion in use of XBRL in many regions.

The repository uses the latest ‘wiki’ technology, enabling easy and flexible updating of information by project managers themselves, as well as efficient display and searching.

The repository is available through www.wikixbrl.org and other links.   This is work in progress and further information and pages are being added to this wiki space for the XBRL community.

The repository is intended to cover completed projects, projects in development and planned activities.  XBRL International is calling on leaders of projects to contribute directly to the site and describe developments in their own words.  They can easily add and update information through the wiki system, including information in languages other than English if they wish.  The information on the wiki site may be a source for an official list of projects on the XBRL International website.

Projects may be catalogued by country, region, supply chain and industry.  Information is welcomed on all types of project, including public sector, commercial and academic.

“Project managers will be using a free format, with full control over material and easy and timely means of updating,” said Ignacio Boixo, who led the project to set up the wiki system for XBRL Spain.  “This very useful information will then be easily accessible, in a flexible and simply followed format, to the growing number of people interested in XBRL.”

XBRL Spain and the University of Bucaramanga will administer the wiki site to ensure it runs efficiently and will offer support to project managers who seek help with their updates.  XBRL Spain will be using the site as a source of XBRL information in Spanish to support the development of the standard in Latin America.
