Best Practices
The topic of "Best Practices" (or just "Practices", since the determination of what is "Best" is highly subjective) falls under the jurisdiction of the XBRL International Best Practices Board (BPB). The BPB actively manages the production, dissemination, and continual improvement of products and resources that describe practices, methods, and processes for successful implementation, integration, maintenance, and usage of XBRL specifications.
**NEW** The Best Practice Board has launched a new series of educational webinars on the basics of XBRL
The BPB has chartered a number of Practice Working Groups to produce documents designed to gather and disseminate information about ways of using and implementing XBRL. There are two types of document - Requests for Comment and Practice Notes. Requests for Comment discuss issues of interest to the XBRL community and seek input from that community with a view to ultimately providing Practice Notes that synthesise that input into documented "Best Practices".
At present none of the work has progressed to "Practice Note" stage so the only sub menu item you will find here is that for "Requests for Comment"
BPB Processes and Operation
The BPB has developed standard processes under which its working groups operate. Comments on this document should be sent to bpbchair@xbrl.org.
The ISC approved document can be found here
It should be noted that this document is based in substantial part on the Technical Working Groups Process Document.
Project Managers LinkedIn Group
A separate LinkedIn group has been established to provide a forum for XBRL Project Managers. This LinkedIn group can be found here
