Notes on the Processing of Large XBRL Instances 1.0 (published 2012-10-31)

This note considers the challenges with processing very large XBRL instances, and outlines a backwards-compatible mechanism for facilitating efficient stream-based processing of such instances.

Versioning Overview 1.0 (published 2012-08-15)

This overview supplements the Versioning Primer with a more comprehensive, non-normative discussion of the XBRL Versioning Specification and its extension modules, in particular those modules related to Dimensional versioning. It provides an introduction to the terms, features, and basic examples of XBRL Versioning. These are demonstrated with diagrams and XML examples.

How To:  Create a Versioning Report 1.0 (published 2012-01-25)

This document describes the process of creating an XBRL Versioning report according to the XBRL Versioning Specification of March 2011. It assumes two versions of a DTS that need to be versioned.

XBRL Formula Overview (published 2011-10-19, updated 2011-12-21)

This overview provides examples and explanation as an introduction to the syntax and semantics of XBRL formula. The accompanying specifications provide the feature descriptions in a rigorous manner for implementation and validation. Illustrations are based on open source and community edition tools.  This Overview is incomplete and is expected to be frequently updated.

Table Linkbase Conformance Suite (published 2011-10-19)

This document is a Working Group Note, describing the Table Linkbase Conformance Suite. It provides important information to enable users to understand the file structure and contents of the Conformance Suite and their usage. It is an early draft as the conformance suite is still only in its infancy.

Versioning Primer (published 2011-10-19)

This primer provides a non-normative overview of the XBRL Versioning Specification and some of the extension modules. The purpose of the primer is to inform prospective users of the basic terminology, construction, usage, and limitations of XBRL Versioning as a mechanism to document differences between two taxonomies, typically due to a version update. The central concepts of Assignments, Actions, and Events are explained with XML examples.
