The FFIEC and US Banking Regulation

The introduction of XBRL for banking regulation in the United States has proved a major success. More than 8,000 banks have been filing quarterly Call Reports in XBRL since October 2005. Banking regulators on the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council say its XBRL system has provided major benefits in efficiency, data validation and speed. The Council is calling on other regulators and organisations to introduce XBRL to improve their business processes.  This is a four-page document in double-sided PDF format, the XII's standard Case Study format.
