XBRL International to provide official networking/communication platform on New Website

13 August 2010  XBRL International, In (XII), the not-for-profit consortium of over 600 companies and agencies worldwide collaborating to build the XBRL language and promote and support its adoption has agreed to expand and maintain the 1,400+ member XBRL Interactive Network on Linkedin (hereinafter "XBRL Network").

“XBRL Network” serves as a leading international networking platform for the financial community, students and corporate management using the XBRL standard in the fields of financial accounting, internal auditing and regulatory affairs.

XII looks to integrate the “XBRL Network” into its new, revamped website scheduled for launch later this month. The new XII site will include a robust online interactive community for anyone that is involved with the XBRL standard. Members will be able to exchange ideas via the web forums and access XBRL tools and resources to support their current business practices.

"XBRL Interactive Network on the Linkedin networking platform is large and growing with over 1,400 members worldwide" explains Miles P. Jennings, Jr., Owner/Manager of OV Metrics, LLC. "The Network's discussions are becoming highly technical and international in context. It seemed right that I should contribute my ownership of the Linkedin group to XBRL International due to the consortium's depth of development work and worldwide breadth of XBRL jurisdictions."

“The big advantage for the XBRL community is that they will now have a single place to exchange ideas and find information as well as an online resource dedicated to better serving their needs” said Tony Fragnito, XII's CEO.

XII web redesign is set to launch in Fall 2010 and will be located at www.xbrl.org

About XII

The XBRL International consortium member participants meet periodically in international conferences, conduct committee work regularly via conference calls, and communicate in email and phone calls throughout the week.

This collaborative effort began in 1998 and has produced a variety of specifications and taxonomies to support the goal of providing a standard, XML-based language for digitizing business reports in accordance with the  rules of accounting in each country or with other reporting regimes such as banking regulation or performance benchmarking. You can read more about our history, the missions of the working groups that carry out much of the work of the organisation, and the elected steering committee that sets the goals of the consortium.

Interested companies and agencies are encouraged to join the XBRL International consortium and participate in building the future of electronic business reporting. http://www.xbrl.org
