Taxonomy Architecture Guidance

The Best Practices Board (BPB) is exploring interest in the formation of a Taxonomy Architecture Guidance Task Force to oversee the development and dissemination of a Taxonomy Architecture Guidance document (TAG).

Rationale:
The changing face of business reporting and the fast moving adoption of XBRL mandates the need for a comprehensive guideline document for taxonomy architecture that can provide those who have limited knowledge of XBRL and taxonomies guidance that defines the various taxonomies that have been built catering to various domains, common and key principles that define architecture of the taxonomy, and the impacts of adopting a specific structure of taxonomy.

After the first version is released, the TAG-TF will then be responsible for periodically updating the TAG document to ensure that the document provides for all evolving architectures.

Please indicate your interest in participating by emailing to tagtf@xbrl.org by Friday January 20, 2012. Learn more about the work the group would perform here.

Particpants should possess basic knowledge or experience of working with the XBRL standard, and especially XBRL taxonomies.
