Pedro Souss named as new Executive Director of XBRL International
2 November 2006
XBRL International (XII) has named Pedro Souss as its new Executive Director with immediate effect.
Mr Souss has extensive senior management experience in information technology with a range of consulting firms and international organisations. He has worked with a variety of governments and agencies on technology development, including in Nicaragua for the Inter American Development Bank (IDB), Switzerland for the United Nations (UN), Kazakhstan for the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and in Bulgaria for USAID.
As Executive Director of XII, Mr Souss will be responsible for implementing XII’s strategic plans and policies and for coordinating relationships with local XBRL Jurisdictions, among other tasks.
The Executive Director post is a new one, created following the departure earlier this year of Louis Matherne, who was the founding president of XII. The establishment of the role is part of a reorganisation of XII to reflect the rapidly expanding use of XBRL around the world. This has included the setting up of the XBRL Standards Board to direct the production of XII technical materials.
Announcing the appointment, Kurt Ramin, Chair of the XBRL International Steering Committee (ISC), said: "We are pleased to have Pedro on board. This completes a worldwide search for a true international person to help drive XBRL forward."
Mr Souss was chosen from a large number of candidates in an intensive selection process run by the ISC. His extensive experience in e-government, information strategies and IT organisation and management stretches across a large number of countries in South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
