India’s BSE requires Earnings Releases in XBRL

Posted on April 7, 2017 by Editor

After the successful introduction of XBRL for Corporate Governance, Shareholding Patterns and Voting Results, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has announced that “Financial Results” (generally termed “earnings releases” in other markets) will need to be disclosed in XBRL format. The requirement covers all companies apart from those in the insurance sector.

Provision of earnings data in structured, consumable and comparable form is exactly what analysts and investors need. Affected? You can read the circular here. Inspired? Good. At XBRL International we are strongly of the view that making earnings data available in structured form is an important step forward.
