FRC opens the book on 2026 taxonomy draft

Posted on July 25, 2025 by Editor

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has kicked off consultation on its draft 2026 Taxonomy Suite, inviting public feedback until 10 September 2025. As ever, the devil is in the details, and there’s plenty to dive into here.

The proposed changes include updates for IFRS 7 amendments, tweaks to UK standards via FRED 85, enhanced revenue disaggregation options, and clearer audit report disclosures. There’s also a significant overhaul of the Charities Taxonomy extension ahead of SORP 2026, plus updates to the Irish extension.

This annual refresh is important for keeping the digital reporting ecosystem aligned with regulatory and standard-setting developments. Stakeholders are strongly encouraged to dig into the changelog and Excel mapping files to fully understand what’s on offer.

Dive into the consultation details here.
