FASB wants input on 2026 GAAP taxonomy reference project

The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) has released proposed improvements to the 2026 GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy (GRT) as part of its ongoing Reference Project. The consultation invites comments until 30 October 2025.

The proposed changes aim to enhance the usability and clarity of the GRT by refining the assignment of reference roles and reviewing reporting requirements in light of current standards. The updates are designed to make the taxonomy more accessible and effective for preparers and users alike. Full details are available in the release notes.
