EIOPA strategy 2030 puts data and SupTech front and centre.

EIOPA has kicked off 2026 with a strategy refresh. Published on 15 January, the new roadmap from the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority sets out the organisation’s ambitions through to 2030, including a focus on digital innovation, data sharing, and smarter supervision.

EIOPA’s goals include advancing shared European data infrastructures, developing standardised definitions, and promoting the reusability and interoperability of supervisory data. The strategy also calls for streamlined data collection and more efficient dissemination, reinforcing the need for common, machine-readable formats across national and European authorities.

This direction builds on EIOPA’s earlier work with data-driven supervision, but the new plan takes things to the next stage. In particular, cross-border and cross-sectoral collaboration is flagged as a priority. This is a critical area where XBRL can support integration, transparency, and timeliness of data access. By treating data as a strategic asset and embedding SupTech across regulatory workflows, EIOPA is clearly preparing for a more agile, connected future.
