EDGAR retires the 2024 taxonomies

Posted on September 19, 2026 by Editor

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has updated its EDGAR system to Release 26.3, which no longer supports the 2024 versions of the GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy and the SEC Reporting Taxonomy, nor the 2024 Country, Currency, Document and Entity Information, and Exchanges taxonomies.

SEC staff encourage filers to move to the most recent releases to take advantage of the latest tags for new accounting standards and other technical improvements.

This is the routine second half of the annual taxonomy cycle: the 2024 versions are being switched off now that their successors are established, following the SEC’s acceptance of the full suite of FASB 2026 taxonomies earlier this year. Filers using older versions will need to update.

A complete list of currently supported taxonomies is available on the SEC website.
