Recess is over! Time to focus on the future of business reporting. It’s September and in the Northern hemisphere the temperatures are beginning to cool down and people are back at work. With financial regulators working to improve the way they analyse data collected from regulated firms, and securities regulators, exchanges, business registrars and corporates all focussed on modernisation and standardisation for data collection and publication, there is lots to do. Not least on the XBRL standards themselves.

We’ve spent the last 18 months working on new ways to prepare and publish structured data reports. Now our global community needs to look at ways that we can simplify data definitions, expand reuse and facilitate collaboration and comparability. All part of an effort to simplify and enhance business reporting with XBRL.
