EDGAR release 26.1 offers key updates for filers

Posted on March 23, 2026 by Editor

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rolled out EDGAR Release 26.1 on 16 March 2026, bringing a set of updates relevant to structured data filers and reporting professionals alike.

On the XBRL front, EDGAR will now accept the 2026 versions of the standard taxonomies, including the US-GAAP, US-GAAP-EBP, and SRT taxonomies published by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), alongside a wide range of SEC-published taxonomies covering areas from country and currency codes to specialised reporting forms. A full list of supported taxonomies is available on the SEC’s website.

Beyond XBRL, the release also tightens procedures around structured filing fee information: EDGAR will now generally suspend filings, rather than merely issue warnings, where fee-related data is incorrect or incomplete. The automated clearing house limit per transaction has also been reduced from $99,999,999.99 to $24,999,999.99, with multiple transactions permitted for larger amounts.
