EFRAG opens the floor on IFRS 19, with simpler reporting in sight

Posted on May 30, 2025 by Editor

The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) recently released its draft endorsement advice on IFRS 19 Subsidiaries without Public Accountability: Disclosures, and it wants to hear what you think. The standard, issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) in May 2024, offers a streamlined reporting option for eligible subsidiaries, which could be significant for companies seeking simpler compliance.

IFRS 19 allows qualifying subsidiaries to report under IFRS Accounting Standards but with reduced disclosure requirements, cutting compliance costs while still keeping financial statements decision-useful. EFRAG has assessed the standard against EU endorsement criteria and taken a deep dive into how it aligns with Directive 2013/34/EU.

Alongside legal and technical analysis, EFRAG carried out outreach and cost-benefit research to gauge just how many subsidiaries might benefit across Europe. Their conclusion? IFRS 19 meets the bar and is ready for EU endorsement – but your views could shape the final call.

Have your say before 3 September 2025.
