Fishy Technology

At XBRL we have long advocated the advantages of using digital reporting technologies well beyond the financial world; switching from paper to data as a means to increasing revenue, reducing costs and increasing productivity.

As a case in point,  the use of Blockchain is being pushed well and truly into new waters within the global fishing freight industry. Digitalising their out of date paper-based system of way bills could  hugely simplify and decentralise the administrative work in shipping of fish and other aquaculture. It could also secure a significant decrease in incorrect shipments — up to 30% — potentially a huge saving to the industry. If this use of blockchain proves itself in the shipping freight world – it could be rolled out to air freight as well… the sky is indeed the limit.  Read more here.
