FRC launches 2026 UK Taxonomy Suite to support evolving reporting standards
The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has released the 2026 UK Taxonomy Suite, marking the latest update in digital reporting infrastructure for the UK and Ireland. The release includes updates to the FRC Taxonomy Suite, Charities Taxonomy, and Irish Taxonomy, alongside supporting documentation, mapping files, and presentation sheets to highlight key changes.
The new Suite reflects feedback from the summer 2025 consultation, with notable additions enabling compliance with the UK Endorsement Board’s IFRS 7 amendments, and updates to support Financial Reporting Exposure Draft (FRED) 85. Enhanced disaggregation options for revenue, improved audit disclosure concepts, and updated Statements of Recommended Practice (SORPs) dimensions also feature prominently. Updates to the Charities and Irish Taxonomies align with their respective reporting frameworks, particularly the new Charities SORP 2026.
This annual taxonomy refresh ensures alignment with evolving UK and Irish accounting requirements, helping filers meet full-tagging obligations set by HMRC and the Irish Revenue Commissioners. The FRC encourages use of the latest or penultimate taxonomy versions for filings, underscoring the regulatory drive for consistency and quality in digital reporting.
