Global adoption map shows ISSB Standards gaining ground

Which countries are following through on sustainability disclosure? This week, the IFRS Foundation answered that question with a new set of jurisdictional profiles, laying out the current state of play on the adoption of the ISSB Standards across 36 jurisdictions.
The new IFRS profiles map out, jurisdiction by jurisdiction, who has adopted the standards, who is preparing to, and who is still in the drafting stage. From Australia to Zambia, the 17 newly released full profiles detail formal commitments, legal footing, and which entities are covered. Fourteen of them aim for full adoption, two are focusing on climate disclosures only, and one is taking a more selective approach. Another 16 jurisdictions are profiled in snapshot form, showing countries still finalising their strategies but with strong signs of alignment.
The profiles arrive at a critical moment. As the pressure for reliable ESG data intensifies, so too does the need for transparency, not just from companies, but from regulators. For investors, the message is clear: global baseline reporting is materialising.
More profiles are expected as countries move from consultation to commitment. For now, this release puts shape and detail to the growing adoption of structured reporting in the ESG realm.
