Good AI requires good data

Or at least that’s the message from a recent Forbes article written by Kevin Campell, CEO at Syniti. In an era of digital transformation, organisations worldwide are recognising the pivotal role of data in driving innovation and achieving business success.

However, as Campbell underlines, data quality needs to be a foundation for effective digital initiatives.

Campbell emphasises that a “data-first” approach is essential for ensuring the success of digital transformation efforts – such as integrating AI into workflow. He highlights the critical need for organisations to address data quality, size, and scope early in the transformation journey, rather than as an afterthought.

Advances in AI, and the growing interest amongst the business community to innovate by integrating new, generative AI models into various areas, further confirms the need for good data. As Campbell highlights, without high-quality data, AI can result in biased results, useless guidance, and incorrect recommendations.

To ensure that AI – and digital innovations in general – are beneficial for organisations, high-quality, usable data is a good starting point. The strength of structured, digital data translates into unlocking the full potential of emerging technologies like AI for long-term success.
