Investors ask the ISSB to go further on nature
The International Sustainability Standards Board’s (ISSB) nature proposals had barely landed when 15 financial institutions asked it to go further. Their joint statement, coordinated by the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation and handed to ISSB Vice-Chair Sue Lloyd at the Biodiversity COP17, calls for a dedicated Standard. Without one, they warn, jurisdictions may diverge: some waiting, some relying on IFRS S1 and S2 alone, others mandating all or part of the Practice Statement.
The signatories, including Storebrand, Federated Hermes, Rabobank and Nordea, want the ISSB to set out the conditions and timeline for a Standard, and to show how disclosures will support asset, company and portfolio-level analysis. Other institutions can sign until 15 January 2027.
