ISSB finalises SASB standards taxonomy update, boosting climate and sustainability disclosures
This week, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) released its updates to the SASB Standards Taxonomy, integrating recent changes to address the evolving demands of climate and sustainability reporting. This update includes the IFRS S2 climate requirements and enhances the international relevance of the SASB Standards following ISSB’s project completion last December.
For companies, the revised taxonomy offers clearer guidance on disclosing climate-related and broader sustainability risks. Under IFRS S1, organisations are encouraged to use the SASB Standards to identify and report on significant sustainability factors beyond climate, providing investors with a fuller view of their sustainability practices.
ISSB’s alignment efforts make it easier for companies to connect with investors and stakeholders on the sustainability topics that matter most.
