SEC updates EDGAR filer manual ahead of major system transition

Posted on June 22, 2025 by Editor

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adopted amendments to Volume II of the EDGAR Filer Manual, aligning with recent system updates under Release 25.2. This latest version, Version 75, is now effective upon publication in the Federal Register. A further update—Version 76—will take effect on 15 September 2025, preparing filers for the significant procedural changes coming with the EDGAR Next rulemaking.

Version 75 incorporates recent technical changes and improvements to the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval (EDGAR) system, ensuring that reporting entities follow the most up-to-date protocols. The forthcoming Version 76 introduces key adjustments required for the implementation of the EDGAR Filer Access and Account Management rules issued in September 2024.

These changes are part of the SEC’s ongoing efforts to modernise and streamline digital filings. EDGAR Next promises to overhaul how filers manage accounts and credentials, marking important groundwork for a more flexible and robust digital reporting environment.
