Global Accounting Alliance Donation to Support Evolution of XBRL Standard

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--XBRL International (XII) today announced a donation from the Global Accounting Alliance (GAA) for the purpose of advancing the work of XII to meet global market demand for the XBRL standard. Citing strongly aligned views on the value of an open source standard for business and financial data the Global Accounting Alliance pledged financial support for XBRL International’s efforts.

Inline XBRL Specification approved as RECOMMENDATION

The XBRL International Steering Committee and the XBRL International Standards Board have approved the publication of the Inline XBRL Specification and the associated registry of specified transformations as a RECOMMENDATION. A conformance suite accompanies this. In addition an open source reference implementation of a validator and extractor has been provided. To read more about this, click here.

XBRL China jurisdiction joins XBRL International

Released 6 May 2010, NYC, NY XBRL International, Inc. (XII) announced today that XBRL‐China has been approved as an XII Jurisdiction. As a Jurisdiction in the XII global consortium XBRL‐China is committed to the promotion and application of XBRL in China.

XBRL GL Working Group releases Proposed Recommendation of GL Framework and Japanese Labels

Formula Working Group releases Candidate Recommendation of additional modules

News from the Versioning Working Group

The Versioning Working Group have issued a Last Call for Comments on the Public Working Draft of the Extended Concepts Versioning Specification. Also the Base and Concept Base Versioning Specifications have been promoted to Candidate Recommendation and a Call for Implementations issued.

XBRL Europe Day

XBRL Europe held a very successful General Assembly in Brussels on February 18th, 2010. Forty-six members and guests were in attendance. XBRL Europe was created in June 2008, under the initiative of XII and some European jurisdictions, in order to foster regional communication and coordination in Europe. XBRL  Europe, among other initiatives, aims to coordinate pan European projects, and constitute a central liaison point to the European Union authorities concerning XBRL, XBRL Europe is incorporated in Belgium (Brussels) as a non profit international association (Association Internationale sans but lucratif).

The XBRL International (XII) Steering Committee Announces the Appointment of Koizumi Makoto as Chairman of the Best Practices Board

In its final regular session of the year the XBRL International Steering Committee approved by
unanimous vote to appoint Koizumi Makoto, Senior Consultant at Fujitsu Research Institute, as the
Chairman of the XII Best Practices Board.

XBRL International Seeks Broad Input On Discussion Document

XBRL International, Inc., (XII) released “XBRL: Towards a Diverse Ecosystem” today, a Discussion Document seeking public comment on the future business requirements and technical roadmap for  the XBRL business information standard. The deadline to submit a comment letter or respond to the survey is March 19th, 2010.

The XBRL Standards Board (XSB), responsible for managing the technical development of the XBRL standard, has developed the Discussion Document to determine the technical goals of the Consortium over the next 5-10 years. The XSB is seeking feedback on its proposals to focus on three areas:

  • Ease of use for developers
  • Enabling information comparability around the world
  • Simplifying the use of XBRL data for analysis systems.
