The UK's HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has launched a service which accepts online Corporation Tax filings in XBRL. The filings, known as tax computations, use a taxonomy developed by HMRC. The organisation also plans to accept company accounts in XBRL in due course.

US SEC Chairman Christopher Cox said XBRL would help individual investors disentangle this mass of facts, statistics and numbers which mutual funds are required to disclose, enabling this information to serve the individual needs of each user. "Since mutual funds are the investment of choice for retail investors, that's where we hope to see interactive data make its first big splash," he added in a speech.
