XBRL US offers training, support to companies in SEC programme

XBRL-US welcomed the SEC's plan to offer incentives to companies to take part in its XBRL voluntary filing programme and said XBRL-US will make substantial educational and training resources freely available to help companies to participate.
It has also created an information sheet for companies about the programme, which is available here.

Speaking to a US XBRL conference, SEC Chairman Christopher Cox said the SEC would play a leadership role in moving ahead the implementation of interactive data, seeking results in months not years. Cox added that the real basis of the SEC's interest in interactive data is its fundamental mission: to protect investors. EDGAR Online Inc announced that it will be the first U.S. financial information company to deliver Chinese company fundamental data from both the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) in XBRL format.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission offered expedited reviews of registration statements and annual reports to companies that take part in the test filing of financial reports in XBRL, saying that interactive data holds the promise of transforming the static, text-only documents companies file with the SEC into dynamic financial reports that can be quickly and easily accessed and analysed. A SEC official later said the offer was drawing "plenty of interest".
