Japan’s TDnet: new XBRL requirements from 1 July 2026
Japan Exchange Group published advance specifications for an expanded set of XBRL requirements on its TDnet timely disclosure platform, effective 1 July 2026. The new rules apply to earnings reports covering fiscal years, interim periods and cumulative quarterly periods that include a quarter beginning on or after 1 April 2026. JPX has flagged that the documents are pre-release and subject to revision before the effective date.
TDnet already delivers structured data for earnings summaries, forecast revisions, dividend forecast revisions and corporate governance reports, and has provided HTML for the body pages of earnings reports since April 2024. The 2026 package extends this to Inline XBRL based quarterly financial statements proper, requiring filers to use a new TDnet earnings taxonomy — dated 2026-01-31 — alongside the relevant EDINET base taxonomies. JPX has aligned its rules with the FSA’s EDINET guidance as updated in November 2025.
TDnet retains its own conventions: a five-digit securities code, distinct file-naming rules and some DEI element requirements that differ from EDINET practice. The published package includes updated preparation guidelines, a revised item list and sample instances for the new reporting scope. Read about it here and more details here (in Japanese).
