XBRL Directions webinar on filing rules ready for rewatch

Posted on May 4, 2026 by Editor

Last month’s XBRL Directions webinar, exploring best practices for creating and publishing filing rules in XBRL reporting programmes, is now available to watch on YouTube.

The webinar covered a practical range of territory: from an introduction to filing rules and their role in ensuring consistent, usable and technically valid filings, to the key classes of useful rules (and a few to avoid!), through to concrete best practices for quality, clarity and testability. A member Q&A rounded out the session.

Filing rules are a necessary part of almost every XBRL reporting programme. Getting them right makes life significantly easier for filers and vendors alike, while poorly designed rules can create unnecessary friction and inconsistency.

For those looking to go deeper, we have published a suite of practical guidance on the topic, covering how to prepare and publish filing rules, as well as checklists for both standard and taxonomy extension filing rules.

Many thanks to presenter Eric Jarry (XBRL Expert, formerly of Banque de France) and facilitator Thomas Verdin (Chair of XBRL Europe).
