Corporate Governance Reforms in India

The landmark Kotak report prepared by a Committee of experts on Corporate Governance was submitted to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) last week. The ‘Corporate Governance in India’ report aims to converge Indian and  international corporate governance standards for that country. Out of its 170 pages, one significant takeaway may be of particular interest: “Disclosures made by the listed entity on its website and submitted to the stock exchanges should be in a searchable format that allows users to find relevant information easily. Specifically, all disclosures made to the stock exchanges by listed entities should be in XBRL format.
