Coming Soon: Multi-Choice, Multi-Dimensional, Multi-Lingual Pick Lists!

Posted on May 4, 2018 by Editor

The XBRL Standards Board has approved as a Candidate Recommendation the Extensible Enumerations 2.0 specification.  This modular extension to the XBRL standard builds upon the functionality added by earlier versions of the Extensible Enumerations standard, and provides taxonomy authors with the ability to create concepts and dimensions that take either a single value or multiple values from a predefined list.  Accompanied by clear validation semantics, and the ability to provide multi-lingual labels for the available values, the specification enables improved modelling of a number of common reporting scenarios.
Candidate Recommendation status indicates that the specification is ready for implementation testing in software.  The Specification Working Group is actively seeking feedback on this new specification, which can be found on the XBRL specification site.
