Corporate Disclosures 2025!
On Monday, our CEO John Turner presented in a panel presided over by XBRL International Vice Chair Mardi McBrien at the Corporate Disclosures 2025 conference. While the Omnibus negotiations continue, it is clear that companies reporting under CSRD will need to provide digital disclosures in due course. The question, for many in the room, was “how”? There remains a significant number of sustainability professionals in large corporates that, primarily, need to expend their energies on the basics. They need to ensure that they have the policies, processes, systems, procedures and controls in place to acquire reliable, consistent and comparable data from across the enterprise (and their supply chains) to meet the needs of the regulations, senior management and their auditors.
Producing digital reports is often entirely new to this part of the organisation. John’s advice was pretty simple: spend time with your colleagues in the (financial) external reporting team that already have skills, experience and systems in place to prepare their digital reports. There were good and relevant questions from the audience, not least in interoperability, but clearly education needs to continue!
