Formula rules guidance and Table Linkbase updates released
XBRL’s success as a standard is due in no small part to its interoperability, ensuring that reports created in one product can be consumed in another. This interoperability doesn’t just happen, but is the result of the tireless commitment of volunteers in our working groups. These groups work to resolve any reported interoperability issues through the publication of test cases, specifications fixes and guidance.
Examples of this work can be found in two documents approved by the XBRL Standards Board this week. The first is a working group note providing guidance to authors of XBRL Formula Rules on how to avoid possible errors in the execution of certain types of rule. This guidance addresses an interoperability issue that exists in a third party specification upon which XBRL Formula depends.
The second is a draft errata release of Table Linkbase 1.0, addressing potentially inconsistent behaviour in the selection of labels from a taxonomy when presenting a table. The document has Proposed Edited Recommendation status, which provides a six week public review period prior to adoption as the new official version of this specification.
