Overall broad support for Swiss climate proposals

Posted on September 16, 2022 by Editor

In a recent post, XBRL Switzerland offers an initial review of the 300 responses to the Swiss government’s consultation on mandatory climate disclosures. We are particularly pleased to note that it finds wide support for machine-readable reporting, specifically the use of XBRL. Exceptions are the business associations Swissmem and Economiesuisse, which are calling for a longer transition to standardised reporting. A number of environmental organisations and similar stakeholders are also urging the creation of a centralised online platform for publication of the disclosures, along the lines of EDGAR in the US or the EU’s proposed ESAP. Like XBRL Switzerland, we at XBRL International are now looking forward to the resulting report and the final regulation.
