Basel Committee revises disclosures on market risk and sovereign exposures

Recent announcements by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision will be of note for those interested in disclosures within the Basel Framework for prudential regulation of banks. The Committee has issued revisions to its market risk disclosure requirements, reflect changes to its standard on minimum capital requirements for market risk published in January 2019. These updates will come into force on 1 January 2023. In addition, the Committee has finalised standards for the voluntary disclosure of sovereign exposures, setting out templates for use by banks. These are only mandatory when required by supervisors at the national level.
