EBA releases draft 4.4 framework, bringing IFRS 18 into scope
The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published the draft technical package for version 4.4 of its reporting and disclosure framework.
Issued on 24 July as an early look ahead of final publication in September, it covers new supervisory reporting for IFRS 18, updated environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosures, and further technical amendments, with comments invited until 24 August.
The package, comprising validation rules, the Data Point Model (DPM) and XBRL taxonomies, brings IFRS 18-aligned templates into the Supervisory Financial Reporting (FINREP) framework from a first reference date of 31 March 2027. It also includes amended Pillar 3 disclosures on ESG risks, equity and shadow banking; the integration of Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) templates into the DPM; and changes covering resolution planning, MREL decisions and the new Anti-Money Laundering Authority’s eligibility templates. This is phase one; a second phase will carry the remaining topics from the major simplification the EBA consulted on in April.
Where the 4.3 package earlier this year served as groundwork, it touched none of the COREP or FINREP templates. Version 4.4 continues the transition to the DPM 2.0 methodology introduced across the framework late last year. The early-release approach, giving preparers sight of the taxonomy well ahead of the mandatory dates, will no doubt help ease the process.
