FRC Financial Reporting Lab calls for participants in ESG project

Posted on October 8, 2021 by Editor

If you are engaged in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting in the UK, you may like to get in touch with the Financial Reporting Council’s Financial Reporting Lab. It is seeking companies, service and systems providers, investors and any other interested parties to participate in a new project looking at how companies produce ESG data.

As it observes, “the systems to produce, distribute and consume ESG data are significantly less mature than those for financial information,” and the first phase of the project seeks to thoroughly understand the current landscape. It anticipates covering a number of what strike us as very interesting questions, including: what ESG data companies collect (in particular for internal decision-making, rather than solely for reporting); how they measure it; what systems they use to collect and produce the data; how they assure themselves as to its accuracy; and how they transform it into useful external disclosures.

We are looking forward to seeing the results, meanwhile you can contact the lab by 15 November 2021 to take part.
