ISSB puts down roots in Frankfurt

Posted on March 11, 2022 by Editor

The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) is now on its way to having its first dedicated physical office. The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with German public and private sector organisations, formalising the partnerships and funding arrangements required to establish an ISSB presence in Frankfurt.

“The MoUs mark a key first step towards establishing the ISSB’s global, multi-location presence to support its broad stakeholder base,” says the IFRS Foundation. The Frankfurt office will provide the seat of the Board, the office of the ISSB Chair, and key support functions such as the hosting of board meetings. It will also act as a hub for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

The next steps will be the establishment of a Montreal office as hub for the Americas region and host of further key functions. Arrangements for the ISSB’s Asia-Oceania presence are also in process.
