OIM Improvements

Posted on March 6, 2023 by Editor

The XBRL Standards Board has approved the publication of a Proposed Edited Recommendation of the Open Information Model suite of specifications, which includes the new xBRL-CSV and xBRL-JSON formats.

This publication incorporates proposed fixes for issues found from early adoption of the new specifications.  XBRL specifications follow a rigorous standards process in order to ensure interoperability of software using the standard. The publication of errata corrections reflects this commitment to quality and interoperability by ensuring that any potentially ambiguous or conflicting text in the specification is resolved. Where appropriate, the changes are backed by additional conformance suite tests, ensuring that all processors implement them correctly.

The Proposed Edited Recommendation status provides a six week review period, after which the edited specifications will replace the current Recommended specifications. The proposals can be found on our specifications site.
