Using XBRL Data for Macro Economic Analysis

For an example of how granular XBRL data can be used to gain insight into wider trends, look to a recent report from Calcbench. Using data pulled from 5000 companies, they are able to spot fluctuations in key data such as overall capital expenditures, operating expenses and cash on hand that give a picture of the health of the overall economy. Calcbench’s Ariel Markelevich provides greater detail in FEI Daily.
