The XBRL Standards Board has approved an initial Public Working Draft of the Report Packages specification, along with an update to the requirements document.

With the growing adoption of Inline XBRL, and many regulators looking towards the adoption of xBRL-CSV, XBRL reports are increasingly made up of multiple files.  The Report Packages Specification formalises a 2018 Working Group Note and seeks to provide a standard way of incorporating XBRL reports and their supporting files into a single package that will make reports simpler and easier to work with.

The Specification Working Group has several items that it is seeking your feedback on, including the possible use of a dedicated “.pxr” file extension to identify Report Packages.  These queries are highlighted in the introduction to the spec, which can be found on our specifications site.
