Help Test iXBRL Support for European Date Formats

Posted on July 30, 2019 by Editor

In anticipation of the upcoming European Single Electronic Filing (ESEF) mandate, the XBRL International Base Spec Working group has prepared new transformation rules that allow dates to be reported in Inline XBRL documents using different European languages and conventions.

The working group is actively seeking feedback and review of these rules in order to ensure that they will meet the needs of report preparers throughout Europe.

The draft transformation rules can be found on the  specification website. The open source Arelle project also now includes a plugin that allows interactive testing of the new rules. You can help ensure that this works smoothly by experimenting in your language(s).

The XBRL specifications benefit from being developed by a truly international community of volunteers.  If you are able to help with the  effort to ensure that the rules will meet reporting requirements in your  region, please get in touch at spec@xbrl.org.
