Standards Enable E-Invoicing
Open standards for digital data exchange are key for keeping e-invoicing and e-procurement safe and sustainable, says Annemieke Toersen, senior IT standards advisor at the Netherland’s Standardisation Forum.
The Standardisation Forum monitors and encourages wider use of open standards in the Netherlands, including the use of XBRL in a range of financial and business reporting. To this end it has published a list of mandatory standards and when they should be used.
In terms of e-invoicing, using standards makes payments and review simpler, faster, and able to be automated. As in financial reporting, standards enable efficient exchange of data, crucial for a reliable digital society.
