IOSCO supports global sustainability standards

Posted on March 26, 2021 by Editor

In a keynote address at the 7th EU-Asia Financial Services Dialogue, Jean-Paul Servais, Vice-Chair of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), discussed recent developments in corporate disclosure of sustainability information, particularly growing momentum towards global standards. As he observed, “placing sustainability at the heart of the financial system is increasingly important, not just for public authorities but also for investors and companies. Since this is a global challenge, the need for coordinated international action in this regard is widely shared.”

Servais reiterated IOSCO’s support for the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation in establishing a Sustainability Standards Board (SSB) and affirmed IOSCO’s role in evaluating proposed standards and monitoring governance arrangements.
