XBRL Europe announced the election this week of Thomas Verdin as the new Chair of the organisation and we offer our hearty congratulations. With two decades of dedicated service to the XBRL community, Verdin brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to his new role.
Another really interesting session at the 30th XBRL Europe conference was the plenary session on environment, social, and governance (ESG) matters, with presentations now available to peruse online. It focused particularly on the crucial theme of how digital thinking is being built into emerging ESG standards.
The presentations are now online for XBRL Netherlands’ recent webinar setting out the respective roles and activities of XBRL International, XBRL Europe and XBRL Netherlands itself. It also provided a useful catch-up on current work and future plans.
Among other great speakers at the recent XBRL Europe conference, Jean-Phillippe Rabine of the European Commission provided an update on the planned European Single Access Point, or ESAP, the EU’s far-reaching and ambitious plan to provide huge amounts of reported digital information all in one place.

In case you missed the event back in November, XBRL Europe has now made videos and presentations available from its 29th Digital Week, which focused on European Single Electronic Format (ESEF) use cases. 2022 is set to be a big year for ESEF, as reporting using this Inline XBRL-based format becomes mandatory across the EU.
